LIVE Moscow Set To Ease Lockdown Restrictions

From Tuesday, people in Moscow will be allowed to move around the city whenever they like Moscow's mayor said this was possible as hospitals were discharging more people than they were admitting But there remain concerns about a rush to reopen as the city still records 2,000 infections a day The UK recorded its lowest daily death toll since 22 March - 55 people died with Covid-19 The WHO said that the pandemic was worsening globally, even as it seemed to be easing in Europe In Brazil, the number of cases pass 700,000, but a controversy is growing over its data There are more than 7 million infections globally, with over 400,000 deaths More than seven million cases of coronavirus have been confirmed since the outbreak began, along with 404,000 virus-related deaths. KKK 'Leader' Charged For Attack On Black Lives Matter Protesters

Image
A self-described Ku Klux Klan leader has been arrested for allegedly driving his car into a group of Black Lives Matters protesters gathered on Sunday in the US state of Virginia. Prosecutors say that Harry Rogers, 36, drove "recklessly" towards a protest in Henrico County, and "revved the engine" before driving into protesters. Mr Rogers appeared in Henrico court on the outskirts of Richmond on Monday, facing charges of assault and battery. A hate crime investigation is underway. One protester was injured and treated at the scene, authorities said, but was not seriously hurt. In a separate incident on Sunday night, a man drove at a crowd of protesters in Seattle, and brandished a gun at them. The suspect is now in custody, while a 27-year-old man who was shot at the scene was taken to hospital, local authorities said. Coronavirus: Plan Dropped For All Primary Pupils Back In School

Image
The plan for all primary school years in England to go back to school before the end of term is to be dropped by the government. There had been an aim for all primary pupils to spend four weeks in school before the summer break. But it is no longer thought to be feasible and instead schools will be given "flexibility" over whether or not to admit more pupils. Head teachers' leaders said it had never been a practical possibility. It comes after Health Secretary Matt Hancock conceded at Monday's Downing Street briefing that secondary schools in England may not fully reopen until September "at the earliest". Prime Minister Boris Johnson will chair a cabinet meeting later to discuss the next steps to ease lockdown restrictions, before Education Secretary Gavin Williamson delivers a statement to the House of Commons on the reopening of schools. There are separate rules for managing the threat of coronavirus in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

IC Register: EC Presents Legal Basis For Rejecting Old Voters’ ID To Supreme Court

Image
The Electoral Commission (EC) has filed a document in court to explain why it is excluding the use of the old voters’ ID from the list of identification documents for the new voters’ register. In a 31-page document presented to the Supreme Court, the Electoral Commission among other things argued that it is an independent body and has the constitutional responsibility of determining how any registration exercise will be conducted. It further said that it had duly presented before Parliament the Constitutional Instrument on the compilation of the new register which does not include the use of the old voters’ ID. “[The EC has the] sole exclusive constitutional responsibility to compile a voters register and to determine how that compilation will be affected and it is not subject to the direction or control of any other person or body.” “The second legal basis is that, in exercising its exclusive constitutional duty, the 2nd Defendant [EC] has placed before Parliament a Constitution

THE FLASH" Star Fired After Racist Tweet

Another issue has yet popped up again concerning racism and misogyny. Actor, Hartley Sawyer has been fired from the The Flash series after his tweets containing misogynist and racist references were surfaced in the past week. The actor who plays or apparently played the role of Ralph Dibney(Elongated Man) on the CW series has been fired because his tweets make references to sexual assault and contain racist and homophobic language. Sawyer's Twitter account has been deleted, but screenshots of the old posts have been circulated online off late. The tweets that have caused such a stir online date mainly from 2012 and 2014, including this one: “The only thing keeping me from doing mildly racist tweets is the knowledge that Al Sharpton would never stop complaining about me.” Another one from 2012 read that “as a lad, one of my favorite activities was kidnapping homeless women and cutting off their breasts.” The show’s executive producer Eric Wallace tweeted his own view on Sawyer

Police Unions Dig on As Calls For Reform Grow

Image
Washington (CNN) A crowd of police officers in Philadelphia gathered outside their local union headquarters on Monday to show their support for one of their own -- a staff inspector facing assault charges after allegedly  beating a college student  at an anti-racism protest last week. Like all criminal defendants, Philadelphia Police Staff Inspector Joseph Bologna is innocent until proven guilty. But it seemed like the crowd of  more than already made up their minds, despite viral footage of Bologna hitting the student in the back of the head with a metal baton, sending him to the hospital. Following the rally, the union that represents Bologna issued a statement, saying it "will not stand-by and watch Inspector Bologna get railroaded." As public opinion shifts on issues of police violence and racial discrimination, and cities begin to rethink their approach to law enforcement, powerful police unions across the country are digging in, and preparing for a once-in-a-generat

George Floyd Unrest : What Trump States Make Of Unrest

Image
President Donald Trump talks about imposing law and order, and his hardline approach towards the protesters this week is helping to shore up his base of supporters. But what do the parts of the US that propelled him to victory in 2016 think of his aggressive strategy? Shirley Hartman, an artist who works in watercolour and acrylics, moved to Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, years ago because she wanted to feel safe. She had been robbed in Philadelphia, a city about 60 miles away, and she was looking for a place where she did not have to worry about violence. With protests unfolding across the US, she says that she is again concerned about her safety and is glad that the president acted forcefully, threatening to deploy the military. The demonstrators went too far, she says, and he responded appropriately. "It's gotten out of hand," says Ms Hartman. "They've gone to extremes, and sometimes it's necessary to go to extremes, too, to respond." The protests h

US Democrats Introduce Sweeping Legislation To Reform Police

US Democrats in Congress have proposed sweeping legislation to reform American police, following weeks of protests against police brutality and racism. The bill would make it easier to prosecute police for misconduct, ban chokeholds, and addresses racism. Its comes as Minneapolis lawmakers vowed to disband the city's police force. The death of George Floyd at the hands of a white officer there sparked national pressure for change. However, it was unclear whether Republicans, who control the US Senate, will support the proposed Justice in Policing Act of 2020. Mr Floyd's brother is expected to testify to the House of Representatives later this week in a hearing on police reform. What does the bill say? The Justice in Policing Act of 2020 was introduced on Monday by top Democratic lawmakers House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, black senators Kamala Harris and Cory Booker and members of the Congressional Black Caucus. As she unveiled the bill,

Edward Colston: Bristol Slave Trader Statue 'Was An Affront'

Mayor Marvin Rees said he felt no "sense of loss" after the controversial bronze statue of Edward Colston was pulled down and thrown into the harbour by protesters on Sunday. But Prime Minister Boris Johnson described it as a "criminal act". Avon and Somerset Police said a decision was taken not to intervene. Mr Johnson's official spokesman said: "The PM's view is that in this country, where there is strong opinion, there is a democratic process which should be followed. "People can campaign for the removal of a statue but what happened yesterday was a criminal act and when the criminal law is broken that is unacceptable and the police will want to hold to account those responsible. "The PM absolutely understands the strength of feeling, but in this country we settle our differences democratica

A further 55 people died after testing positive with the virus as of 17:00 BST on Sunday, taking the total to 40,597. This included no new deaths announced in both Scotland and Northern Ireland for the second consecutive day. The number of new UK cases on Monday - 1,205 - is also the lowe On the day lockdown began, 23 March, there was a rise of 74 deaths. The UK is only the second country - after the US - to pass the milestone of 40,000 deaths. The welcome drop in deaths being announced is encouraging news. But they come with a big caveat - there are always delays recording fatalities over the weekend. Last Monday there were just over 100 new deaths announced, but other days last week topped 300. Nonetheless, it does show that prog

€102.5m Mason Mount’s Transfer Value Listed As Higher Than De Jong And Messi

Image
The  CIES Football Observatory  has just published its list of the most valuable players in Europe’s top 5 leagues according to their calculations, and there’s a Chelsea player in the top 20, but perhaps not who you would expect. Mason Mount is listed as having a value of €102.5m, putting the England midfielder just behind Matthijs de Ligt and just ahead of his old Ajax teammate Frenkie de Jong. It even puts him ahead of Leo Messi, but given the Argentine is 32 years old, what’s perhaps more impressive is that he’s up there at all. The fact that Mount is just 21, has scored goals consistently through his career so far, is English and has until 2024 left on his contract will all contribute to his inflated value. Given the criticism he gets within our own fanbase, it’s easy to forget how highly rated he actually is around Europe. Incredibly, the next name on the list is Kepa Arrizabalaga. Someone really needs to tell these guys about Reece James. source: www.jsportne

However, Kante was given permission to miss the match as he  continues to express concerns over player safety during the coronavirus pandemic . The 29-year-old has regularly attended the club's Cobham training base but only to follow an individual programme rather than joining in group sessions, despite the Premier League voting to return to contact training last month after agreeing a detailed protocol with medical advisors and the government. Kante lost a brother to a heart attack shortly before the 2018 World Cup and suffered a health
