Report: Neymar Told PSG Teammates He Wants to go to Barcelona

Neymar Jr. has not given up on returning to FC Barcelona according to reports out of Spain.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Paris Saint-Germain superstar has made it clear to his closest teammates that he wants to leave for Barcelona. “I want to go to Barca,” Neymar reportedly told them.

Of course, this contradicts what Ander Herrera said last month, which was that Neymar is happy in Paris.

“I had dinner with Neymar before the quarantine and he is very involved with the project. He told me that he has never been so happy in Paris,” Herrera said. “PSG’s project is such that both feel fulfilled in Paris.”

Regardless of who you believe, the fact remains that Barcelona cannot afford Neymar. They can’t afford him at the price PSG has set, which is €175 million, and they don’t have the players that would entice the Ligue 1 champions to work out a swap deal.

Even if Barcelona and Neymar attempted to use FIFA’s Article 17 to force a transfer, it likely wouldn’t end well for them as the transfer fee set by the governing body of football would still be too expensive for the Catalan club.

Unless Neymar makes his desire to PSG public, I’m inclined to believe that anything about the player coming out of Spain is completely fabricated and printed for the sole purpose of selling newspapers and boosting web traffic.

Barcelona rejected €45m offer for signing set to join this summer just days after announcement

Barcelona reportedly turned down a €45m offer from an unnamed club for Francisco Trincao, just days after they announced his scheduled arrival this summer.

As per the club’s official site on January 31, they announced that they had signed the 20-year-old in a deal worth €31m, and that he would join them on July 1.

The youngster has impressed for Braga this season, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists in 30 appearances, while he has been capped from U17 to U21 level for Portugal to suggest that he has a bright future ahead of him for club and country.

However, it seems as though Barcelona’s resolve was tested almost immediately, as Mundo Deportivo report that they received a €45m offer for their new signing via agent Jorge Mendes just days after making his move official, but club president Josep Maria Bartomeu dismissed the idea of selling him before he’s even had a chance to make an appearance for the Catalan giants as they have big hopes for him.

It’s added that Trincao himself also made it clear that he wanted to prove his worth at Barcelona, and so it appears as though he will join up with his new club as planned for preseason this summer and despite a hefty €45m offer being on the table, the reigning La Liga champions evidently believe in his talent and potential.

Particularly when considering ESPN recently reported that Barcelona are under pressure to raise funds to balance the books through player sales, offloading Trincao and making a quick profit on him could have been smart financial decision.

However, it appears as though they’ve prioritised the success of the club on the pitch on this occasion, and the Portuguese starlet will seemingly get his chance to shine at the Camp Nou.

Loan to Bielsa', 'Swap': Some fans of London club react as Leeds reportedly rivalling Barcelona for 22-year-old

Reports from Argentina have claimed that Juan Foyth is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer and the player’s representatives are already looking for potential new clubs – and Spurs fans have discussed his future.

Foyth, 22, joined Spurs in the summer of 2017 from Argentine side Estudiantes but has managed just 32 league and cup appearances since Mauricio Pochettino lured his fellow countryman to north London.

However, the appointment of Jose Mourinho has seen Foyth manage just one Premier League start – a match in which he was hooked at half-time following a mistake which allowed Norwich City to score.

Argentine website El Dia now claim that his exit is ‘practically a fact’ with his agents supposedly looking for a new home for the Argentina international. Barcelona and Leeds are touted as possible options for Foyth.

Indeed, Barcelona’s interest in Foyth is said to have increased Marcelo Bielsa’s desire to sign the defender. The Whites are closing in on a return to the Premier League for the first time since their relegation back in 2004.

Tottenham supporters have reacted on Twitter to the news that their club could be about to sell Pochettino signing Foyth, and some have suggested he should go on loan to Leeds – while others think a sale is the best option.

De Jong: Messi is better than the rest at Barcelona

In an extract from the upcoming book ‘Van Johan tot Frenkie’, a pre-publication of which is in the Algemeen Dagblad, De Jong praised his teammate.

He said, “He is really very good. People underestimate it.

“When someone is the best for a long time, people often get fed up, they get sympathy for the underdog. After Messi had won the Golden Ball three or four times, the argument was: now someone else may win. But that is not the case, that award must be for the best footballer. And he has been every year, until now.”

De Jong realises that Messi is by far the star in the Barcelona squad, “I notice that he is the best in all aspects of the game. Playing in position, in finishing, he sees the game well, he is fast, agile, small but super strong. We mainly have to adapt to him, but that is not difficult. He offers himself well and he plays you well, it makes sense that you adapt to someone like that. Here at Barça they are all world class players, but Messi is really better than the rest “
