Man Utd handed boost in surprise transfer bid for Barcelona target Lautaro Martinez
Man United has agreed that they will pay Martinez release clause .
have been handed a boost in their reported bid to sign Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan this summer, because the Italian giants are already thinking of Plan B and what they're going to do if the Argentine ends up leaving. That's the opinion of ESPN's Gab Marcotti, who discussed reports suggesting United and Real Madrid were readying themselves to challenge Barcelona for his signature.
United are reportedly looking at Martinez as a potential transfer target.
The Argentine is expected to leave Inter this summer, with Barcelona looking like the most likely destination.
However, Barca are reluctant to pay his £97.5million release clause, and it appears other teams are set to make their move.
Reports on Sunday suggested Ed Woodward, United's vice-Chairman and transfer guru, has met with the Argentine's agent.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to sign a new forward this summer having missed out on Erling Braut Haaland in January.
He is still yet to sign a permanent replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who went to Inter last summer on the final day of the transfer window.
And Martinez could be the perfect fit, as they wouldn't have to negotiate provided they fork out for his release
clause.
