Chief Constable: Officers At Protest Acted In 'Best Interest Of Public Safety'

Chief Constable Andy Marsh of Avon and Somerset Police has issued the following statement after officers at the Black Lives Matter protest were criticised for not intervening as the statue was torn down.
He said he fully supported commanders on the ground who decided that intervening would lead to a violent confrontation.
"While I certainly do not condone crime and damage of any support, i fully support the actions of my officers," he said.

IC Register: EC Presents Legal Basis For Rejecting Old Voters’ ID To Supreme Court

The Electoral Commission (EC) has filed a document in court to explain why it is excluding the use of the old voters’ ID from the list of identification documents for the new voters’ register. In a 31-page document presented to the Supreme Court, the Electoral Commission among other things argued that it is an independent body and has the constitutional responsibility of determining how any registration exercise will be conducted.
