Tammy Abraham React As Timo Werner Agrees Deal To Join Chelsea.

The Blues have already dipped their toe into the transfer market prior to the pandemic, with Ajax star Hakim Ziyech signing a deal to become Frank Lampard's first signing since arriving as head coach at Stamford Bridge.

And there is another player doing the business in the Bundesliga that Chelsea have been heavily linked with - striker Timo Werner.

He has been tipped to make a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea and Liverpool both keen to sign him this summer.

The German striker has lit up the Bundesliga and the Champions League in 2019/2020, with Liverpool knowingly in pursuit of the lightening forward.

However, the Premier League leaders have been reluctant to cough up the cash for the 24-year-old and it appears Chelsea have stepped in and taken pole-position.

That's according to widespread reports in Germany and England on Thursday evening claim that Werner has now verbally agreed a switch to west London after the Blues offered him wages of £200,000-a-week.

Chelsea have made it clear that they are prepared to activate Werner’s £49million release clause and the Germany international looks set to become one of the highest paid players in the club’s history on a salary of £9.6m-a-year.

Reacting to the rumours, Instagram account 433 shared the following with their 28 million followers and Tammy Abraham with fellow teammate Kepa Arrizabalaga fuelled the speculation that Timo Werner is on his way to Stamford Bridge by ‘liking’ a post on Instagram announcing Chelsea’s deal for the Leipzig striker.

‘BREAKING: @timowerner has reportedly agreed to join @chelseafc on a permanent transfer, according to @bbcsport ✅.’ It quickly became clear that two of their followers, Chelsea stars Abraham and Kepa, approved of the deal after ‘liking’ the post.

It appears Antonio Rudiger – who played a key role in convincing Werner to join the club also ‘liked’ the news.

Chelsea's desire for a new striker has been evident for a while, and their need demonstrated throughout the entire campaign. Tammy Abraham has been the preferred option while Olivier Giroud was set to leave in January - he has since signed a new one-year deal with the club.

However, there may be some potential problems if Chelsea view Werner as a direct replacement for Abraham; they simply cannot put him in the same position with the same role and hope that the goals will flow because of it.

This is where Lampard and Chelsea will need to be flexible with their current system. We could even go as far to say that they need to be building the team to suit what Werner will want and more crucially what he needs. This starts with giving him the freedom to float around the forward positions.
