Breaking: RB Leipzig Chief Denies Chelsea Agreement To Sign Timo Werner.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will be looking to improve his attacking options when the transfer window opens in the summer.

Blues boss Frank Lampard spoke publicly of his desire in January to bring a striker with European pedigree into the club to provide Tammy Abraham with some competition Hence, the need for attacking strength is pretty clear.

One such option as a replacement is Red Bull Leipzig striker, Timo Werner

The German striker has lit up the Bundesliga and the Champions League in 2019/2020, with Liverpool knowingly in pursuit of the lightening forward.

However, the Premier League leaders have been reluctant to cough up the cash for the 24-year-old and it appears Chelsea have stepped in and taken pole-position.

That's according to trusted German journalist Christian Falk of BILD-SPORT, who says Werner is set to sign a contract with the Blues until 2025, pocketing a salary of around €10m-per-year.

The Blues have already launched an offer for the Leipzig forward and could wrap up the deal if other teams who are interested didn't hijack it, "according to trusted German journalist Christian Falk of BILD-Sport."

Chelsea have widely been reported to have an agreement to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig but those claims have been denied

RB Leipzig chief Mintzlaff has denied that an agreement for Timo Werner to join Chelsea has been struck:

“We haven't had an exchange with Chelsea yet. So far, Timo Werner has not drawn the clause nor has a club sent a transfer contract," Mintzlaff told Sky Germany.

"We have nothing to report and do not take part in the daily speculation.”

While Mintzlaff's statement to Sky Germany may seem like the move is in doubt, Chelsea remain confident of confirming the deal for the 24-year-old before his £53million release clause expires on June 15.

Moreover, Timo Werner is in action for Leipzig against Paderborn today and Chelsea fans are looking forward to their rumoured target - and he got off the mark with an assist before Dayot Upamecano was sent off.

Timo Werner looked sharp in those opening 45 minutes, ending the half with an assist as RB Leipzig lead 1-0.

Werner was lively on the left, having a few shots blocked after cutting in to the box from the flank, and he showed composure to tee up Schick for the opener with the Paderborn defence trying to block him out of a shooting chance.

Leipzig are down to 10 men after Upamecano's red card, so Werner may have to play a deeper role in these second 45 minutes - and that will still be of interest to Chelsea fans, given Frank Lampard's desire to build a hard-working side.
